The American consumer has spoken: Cash Matters

Payment choice is important to U.S. consumers, and the ability to pay in cash is as important today as it ever was. The COVID-19 pandemic changed a lot about American society, but it didn’t change consumers’ desire to use cash. In fact, cash continues to be the most used way to make payments in the U.S., used by nearly everyone from all walks of life.

Cardtronics partnered with Javelin Strategy and Research to conduct the 2021 Health of Cash Study, gathering consumer feedback in the fall of 2020, with comparison data looking at pre-pandemic 2019 surveys and a mid-pandemic spring 2020 check-up to better understand what has and has not changed for consumer payment choice.
